One day, this day will be a celebration of me. Mother's Day. It's the one day of the year where mothers are celebrated and honored. I like to think that every day is mothers day because I owe everything I am to my mother. If you're reading this and you are a mother I want to thank you. I have been blessed with the goodness to have many "mothers" in my life. You have shown an exceptional amount of virtue and kindness. Being a woman is something I never take lightly. Through the cramps, the shaving of the legs, the blow drying of the hair, the giving birth, the cooking, the cleaning, the nurturing, the cheering, you have done all with beauty. Okay, I know it's hard to imagine "shaving of the legs" done in beauty, but it takes a lot to be a woman. Some of the most influential people in my life are woman and they have impacted my life in so many ways. I have been taught to love and I have been taught how to heal because of those who have come before me. I have been strengthened by the examples of woman and I am lucky to be one. Although this mother's day I was able to spoil my mom a bit (since I now have a job), I'd like to take a few minutes to tell you about my mother. When people ask who my mom is I always seem to say, "the crazy lady with the red hair." My mother is a different kind of crazy and through most of my younger years I think I took that for granted. As I find myself getting older I see more of my mother in me every single day. Most people probably don't want to be like their mom, but I am different. My mom is a woman who has a tremendous amount of strength and courage. Though at times she struggles, she maintains her laughter and dignity with ease. She is always willing to sacrifice, even if its just the last scoop of ice cream. My mom always puts others before herself and at times I have no idea how she does it. She could spend tons of money on her kids, but never spend hardly anything on herself. My mom has a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and she has a faith that is unmistakable. I love my mom. Now back to everyone else.. If you are in my life and have ever been in my life even for just a time, I want to thank you. You may not think that you have impacted my life but I can promise that you have. If you have cooked me dinner, asked me how I was, smiled at me, gave me a hug, taught me an important lesson, told me a joke, taught me in school, taught me in church, or even just thought about me, I thank you. Women are what makes the world go around. What an honor and what a responsibility we have as women. To all the girls out there, keep your head up and keep your heart strong. The world needs us.
My dear sweet Utah, What an amazing three weeks you've given me. You always will be my home away from home and I will always be grateful for my summers spent with you. Utah, you teach me a lot every single time I'm with you, and this year you've given me much to be thankful for. You have taught me that family is never that far away. You have taught me that life in itself gives great challenges, but those challenges make me stronger. You have taught me that one of my most favorite things is seeing my grandparents hold hands while walking together. You have taught me that the mountains are the most beautiful place in the world. You have taught me that the stars are so much brighter when you are actually looking for them. You have taught me how much I am blessed to have such amazing friends back home. You have taught me that it's okay not to look your best every day. You have taught me that Law & Order: SVU is a slight addiction shared by my cousins and myself. You ha...
You are such a great example to me. I love you sweet daughter. And yes you made me cry on mothers day.
