"In your life you are going to go some great places and you're going to do some wonderful things. But no matter where you go or who you become, this place will always be with you." I have grown up in a town where most people feel like it's the worst place ever, like it's a place where no one would ever want to go. I think differently. I have grown up in a town where I have felt the majestic qualities of a southern town at its finest. Tonight was the final episode of One Tree Hill. Many of you have probably seen one or two episodes but this show has been my favorite for the past 9 years. I can remember watching it with my mom and my brothers every week and it is a memory I will cherish forever. The majority of this story line are teens in high school and their lives after. Of course memories of my high school days came flooding back into my head as quickly as I heard the theme song to my favorite show. Columbia High School. My high school. This was the place where I grew into the young lady I am today. At that high school I developed relationships with boys that for the most part haven't lasted, I lost friends in bitterness and gained ones that will be around forever, I became a leader through SGA, I laughed, I cried, and I SURVIVED those four years. It's been almost a year since I've graduated. My life has changed drastically in this past year and I can hardly recognize the girl in the mirror I see today. All of you have your story of High School. Maybe you played football, maybe you were a shining star in the band, maybe you were a journalism lover, and maybe you really never knew who you were in high school at all, but we all were somebody. There is a simplicity in Lake City that most people take for granted. No matter how awful this place may seem, this is the place where we grew up. This is the place where we grew into adults, this is the place where all of our memories reside, and this is the place we will forever call home. I have friends who are doing extraordinary things with their lives. I have a friend in Guatemala who is changing lives, I have a friend who is waiting patiently for her boyfriend to come home from basic training, I have friends who moved away and are making their own lives into something wonderful, I have friends who serve two year missions to bring people closer to Christ, and I have friends who don't quite know where they stand in life but they know they will get there someday. We all have our story. Each of us is unique and remarkable and we owe it all to the place we call home. We owe everything to the place where we were molded and shaped into the people we are today. Never forget that today is a good day and the place you come from is a place worth remembering.
My dear sweet Utah, What an amazing three weeks you've given me. You always will be my home away from home and I will always be grateful for my summers spent with you. Utah, you teach me a lot every single time I'm with you, and this year you've given me much to be thankful for. You have taught me that family is never that far away. You have taught me that life in itself gives great challenges, but those challenges make me stronger. You have taught me that one of my most favorite things is seeing my grandparents hold hands while walking together. You have taught me that the mountains are the most beautiful place in the world. You have taught me that the stars are so much brighter when you are actually looking for them. You have taught me how much I am blessed to have such amazing friends back home. You have taught me that it's okay not to look your best every day. You have taught me that Law & Order: SVU is a slight addiction shared by my cousins and myself. You ha...
